Unions for Ceasefire Day of Action
at College Lane Forum
on Thursday 10 October 12-1pm – join us
Dear member
We will be writing shortly with details of our first branch meeting of the new academic year when we will update you on developments and discuss your views.
In the meantime, national UCU has asked all branches to join the Unions for Ceasefire Day of Action to call for an immediate end to the dangerously escalating conflict in the Middle East.
As national UCU writes:
“On Thursday 10 October, the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War and other groups are calling on trade union branches across the UK to participate in a workplace day of action aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East. The past 12 months have had a catastrophic effect on workers. In Gaza, 886 healthcare professionals, 416 educators, 302 humanitarian workers and numerous other public sector employees have lost their lives. Unemployment in the occupied Palestinian territory has skyrocketed to 51 percent, 79 percent in Gaza.
“Trade unions are demanding an immediate cessation of hostilities, unrestricted access to humanitarian aid, and a halt to arms sales to Israel.”
We’ll be holding our workplace day of action event on Thursday 10 October between 12 noon and 1pm at College Lane Forum, when we’ll be handing out leaflets and engaging staff and students in discussion.
Please join us if you can.
In solidarity
