Extraordinary General Meeting, Tues 30 June, noon; AGM postponed to Tues 2 July, noon

Dear members,

Given the VC’s announcement on 23 June, we have taken the decision to postpone the scheduled AGM until the following week, and instead hold an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 30 June, at noon, to discuss the University’s proposals.

UCU and UNISON have been attending SBU staff briefings and are supporting members. We were informed but not formally consulted about the process. We have requested financial information about the decisions for each School, and we will be examining the proposals and justifications made by the VC and senior management carefully.

We have been called to a meeting with the VC and Finance Director on Wednesday 1 July, where we hope to receive more concrete information and raise the concerns of members.

We will update members with the information we receive at this meeting, as well as discussing the ongoing redundancy consultations in Creative Arts and the Associate Physicians, at the postponed Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 7 July at noon.
