University of Hertfordshire UCU motion on events in Israel and Palestine

This motion was passed at our all members’  branch meeting on 2 November 2023 with 77% in favour, 11.5% against and 11.5% abstaining: 

“This branch affirms its commitment to peace based on justice for both Israelis and Palestinians based on the relevant UN resolutions. 

“This branch condemns the killing of Israeli civilians by Hamas and Palestinian civilians by the Israeli Defence Force.

“This branch calls for an immediate ceasefire, to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the release of all hostages and political prisoners.

“This branch reaffirms its condemnation of islamophobia and antisemitism directed at students and staff of the university.

“This branch affirms its solidarity internationally with all oppressed peoples.”
